Ted O'Brien MP

Federal Member for Fairfax

Ted entered Parliament as the Member for Fairfax in 2016 with over 20 years of commercial experience in senior leadership roles across various Asia-Pacific markets, including over a decade with global services company Accenture where his last role was Director of Growth and Strategy for the Asia Pacific and Emerging Markets, based out of Beijing.

In the last term of government, Ted led negotiations on behalf of the Australian Government as the Prime Minister’s representative to secure the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Now on the frontbench as Shadow Minister for Climate Change and Energy, Ted is formulating Australia’s next climate change and energy policy.

Ted’s leadership has been on display locally with success in securing unprecedented infrastructure funding. And he has founded important local organizations from Reimagine Nambour to Sunshine Coast 2032 and, now in its 10th year, Generation Innovation which is a program of youth entrepreneurship.

Ted has a Bachelor of Economics and Politics from the University of Queensland; a Scholarship in Chinese Mandarin from the National Taiwan Normal University; a Master of Business Administration (International) from the University of Melbourne and a Master of Economics from the London School of Economics.

He lives in Buderim with his wife Sophia and their three children.
